What Type of Tree Will Deck Your Halls This Season?

Hayneedle.com’s Buyer Trends Show Non-Traditional Christmas Tree
Styles Are Gaining Popularity

OMAHA, Neb.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–While many consumers still deck their halls with a more traditional
style of Christmas tree, alternative styles such as colored trees and
slim or pencil trees now account for more of the artificial tree sales,
according to hayneedle.com,
one of the nation’s largest online retailers for home furnishings and
décor. Last year, about 45 percent of overall tree sales on
hayneedle.com were these types of trees, compared to 40 percent for
traditional tree sales. Within the specialty Christmas tree assortment
we saw colored trees top the list in sales last year with white being
the most popular followed by slim/pencil trees, fiber optic, flocked,
and upside down rounding out the list.

“This year we’re beginning to see a growth in flocked tree sales. There
are so many options when it comes to artificial trees. You can truly
find one that is perfect for any space and to complement any décor
style,” says Rebecca Gray, vice president of merchandising for
Hayneedle. “Once you find the right shape, color, and size, you can then
get as creative as you want with decorating it – from lights and
ornaments to tree skirts and other accessories. Your tree can be a fun
way to reflect both your style and your family’s connection to the
holiday season.”

To help you find the best size and style for your home’s décor,
Hayneedle developed guides on how
to pick the perfect Christmas tree
and how
to decorate your tree
– from types and tips to lights and heights.
