Winn-Dixie Trail Mix Bars Recalled Because of Possible Health Risk

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Winn-Dixie Stores of Jacksonville, Florida, is recalling all of its
Winn-Dixie Trail Mix Bars because the sunflower kernels in the bars have
the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes (L. mono).

The Winn-Dixie Trail Mix Bars were distributed to and sold by all
Winn-Dixie stores in Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi and
Alabama.

Winn-Dixie immediately initiated a recall upon notification from its
supplier, TreeHouse Private Brands, on June 2, 2016. The supplier
notified Winn-Dixie of its expanded recall of sunflower kernels which
have the potential to be contaminated with L. mono. As
the supplier is recalling all lots and code dates of sunflower kernels
with existing shelf life, it expects no further expansion of its recall.

The product comes in a package of 12, 7.4 ounce bars marked with the
following lot numbers and expiration dates:

Lot # 2151521000, Exp. Date: 24 April 2016

Lot # 2151526600, Exp. Date: 19 June 2016

Lot # 2151532100, Exp. Date: 13 August 2016

Lot # 2151601200, Exp. Date: 08 October 2016

Lot # 2151603500, Exp. Date: 31 October 2016

Lot # 2151606800, Exp. Date: 03 December 2016

Winn-Dixie stores have received no reports of illness from customers
associated with consumption of this product and all affected product in
the stores has been discarded.

L. mono is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes
fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others
with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer
only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness,
nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause
miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

Consumers who have this product at home should discard the product and
return to the store for a full refund. To receive the refund, customers
may present proof of purchase through a receipt or the product-packaging
label.
